This vintage mini camera is so cute. When I opened it, it looks like a toy to me. I was questionable about if it really would work as advertised. In the box was the camera a 16 GB SD card and a lanyard. To my delight it was very functional and took clear sharp picture with true to life color. It has a small viewing screen that pops open on the top. It has different buttons on the front for power auto focus and a shutter button. On the side there is a crank handle to turn for videos. It is a v…ery small camera about 5 inches in height so it is easy to carry with me at all times. I just throw it in my purse and bring it along. I know that today's cell phones take great pictures but when I take this camera out everyone want to be in the picture and then marvel at the results.
I really love this gimmicky "retro" camera. The Chuzhau TLR style digital camera has all the right stylings and even a top down viewfinder-like screen. It stays true to the styling taking photos that are square format albeit pretty low quality. I would say that the image quality of this camera is comparable to cheaper webcams available but I think that the unique design and shooting experience makes up for that. The low resolution images created have a old school nostalgic look as well with ove…rsaturated colors and extreme contrast. There is no manual controls for this camera so expect to shoot it on fully auto mode with blown out highlights and pretty bad low light capabilities. The controls are a little confusing at first with 4 interface buttons on the front and a crank dial that also doubles as a focus button. Although you cant manually adjust the exposure of the camera, there is an option to tun off autofocus and just use the crank's button as a focus lock button which is nice for locking focus and recomposing. Holding down the shutter button allows you to record video with sound and cranking the lever seems record video without sound but will keep recording until you stop cranking ending with a short timer. Such a fun little "feature". There is also one button that is dedicated to switching the camera from capturing in full color mode and black and white mode however the camera will always default back to full color mode when powered off and on again.Overall this is more toy than camera. I personally find the gimmicks fun and the shooting experience unique. I love that the photos come out as squares and the camera comes with a small 16gb micro-sd card that you can use to easily transfer the photos onto a computer. The files are so small that the 16gb card should be more than enough. The styling of this camera looks beautiful with a flip up hood and even though the image quality is pretty bad for today's standards, the images produced do have a retro feel to them. It would be awesome to see a company like Chuzhao produce a full sized version of this camera with manual controls and better image quality.
I like the design of the joystick on the side of this retro camera. Not only does it add a sense of ceremony to the operation, but it also has a variety of practical functions. When browsing photos, the joystick can easily flip pages, making the process of reviewing photos more fluid and intuitive. When shooting videos, although the joystick can be used to control the movement of the lens, its high sensitivity can easily cause the picture to shake, affecting the stability of the video. Therefor…e, it is recommended to use the buttons directly when shooting videos to ensure a smoother picture.
OK, so this is by far the coolest camera I’ve ever purchased! I was a little hesitant because there were other bad reviews. People are saying it’s more like for fun and it’s a lot like a toy but I disagree. This camera is great for taking vintage pictures and videos. It’s so cute and the amount of people that are like oh my gosh I love your camera is that real and I’m like yes! And they think it’s so cool! But I also think it is so cool! And you can go back and look at photos which I love! I ha…ve never noticed anything with bad lighting. It takes great photos in the darker, lighting and outside! Super user-friendly , I haven’t even charged it yet because it holds charge for such a long period of time. And so far it’s been super durable, I’m actually pretty clumsy and I’ve dropped it a few times and nothing has messed up. Obviously you shouldn’t intentionally do that, but I’ve carried it with me while I traveled, and , it has stayed put together very well. Just like new highly recommend this kind of camera if you just want some thing, fun and small to carry around with you it also comes with a carrying strap which is great. I just put it around where my purses and I carry it with me that way. Not to mention that this thing is so freaking tiny that you could almost put this in your pocket and it would be a great fit! Now I’m unsure of how many photos and videos it holds. I take a lot of pictures with this thing so so far it hasn’t run out of storage I would say I’ve taken about 200.
This is such a fun, unnecessary purchase - which makes a perfect gift for someone else or yourself. For one, the vintage twin-lens reflex camera design is a beautiful classic. This looks great just sitting on a desk or a shelf of camera bodies. Some have complained about the messaging written on the camera; there are some upbeat catch phrases written around each lens which is unnecessary but also nearly impossible to see. I’m more concerned with the brand name at the top of the camera. But it’s… their camera so I can’t complain too much about it. They at least used a similar font so Chuzhao looks similar to how Rolleiflex looked on the film cameras. The controls on this camera are interesting, so read the manual. I wouldn’t give this to a young child because it can take some hand/eye coordination to take top-down style photos and mostly because this camera has a fragile viewfinder cover which might break with rough handling. Besides the gorgeous looks, the most impressive thing is the picture quality. I’m blown away. Don’t get me wrong, these are mediocre quality 12 mp images similar to the quality of an early iPhone photos. The pics are grainy and have poor dynamic range. But from a “toy” camera this small and cheap, the images are really impressive. They are definitely not throw away images like most Polaroid photos. The images frankly look like old film photos from a disposable point & shoot. This picture quality is more than good enough for social media or for framing a few memorable 3x5 shots. The camera even shoots video but you have to spin the side handle to shoot. You spin continuously to continue filming, which means your video comes out shaky like old silent movie era films. And these videos have no sound. It’s largely a useless joke feature, but it’s fun. The camera also comes with its own micro SD card which is nice. Overall, this tiny camera is a real treat for anyone who loves cameras.
This is such a cool little vintage camera. The image quality was actually a lot better than I was expecting. The color science is great with pleasing blues and greens that are really nice for outdoor photos in nature. It’s functionality is fun along with an It’s functionality is fun along with being pretty easy to use. Also, the camera itself is really tiny in person. It’s much smaller than the average smart phone and it’s super lightweight. Overall, this is a really fun camera that’s an exce…llent value for money. Highly recommended.
If you're like me and dig retro-looking stuff, this could be right up your alley. It's fun to use and takes better images and videos than I could have expected. However, it doesn't compete with higher-end cameras or recent cell phones. It takes 12 MP stills and records 1080p video. The construction and attention to detail are surprisingly good. The buttons and knobs feel like decent quality and the screen also looks good. It's a fun "retro vibe" camera for anyone. I like it, it also makes a goo…d shelf decoration.
This beautiful digital camera is not professional equipment, but a retro mini camera full of entertainment and fun. Despite this, I still have a soft spot for it. It is small and delicate, easy to carry around, and comes with a high-quality lanyard and an SD card. The image quality is quite good, perfectly recreating the style of the early 1990s and satisfying my nostalgia. In addition, it can take some cute little photos without taking up phone memory, which is perfect for beginners. So, if yo…u are also beginner photographer, or just like the retro style and want to record the little moments of life, this camera is definitely the one for you.
Very nice toy camera. Fun to use. The autofocus works well although you can't focus then recompose since it will automatically refocus on the center subject. The viewfinder display is good in sufficient light, and only displays the battery status, not the settings (the pictures in the listing are misleading). The resulting 12mp stills and 1080p videos are *extremely* compressed, and they can lose a lot of sharpness depending on the subject matter. The video function records audio. The color ima…ges on mine are oversaturated and noisy. Some color shots can be saved with post processing. It doesn't shoot very well in low light. I prefer shooting with the "sepia" mode, which they call black & white. The photos look decent on a computer screen at or under 50% of original size. No ability to set date & time, mine's date was set at 8/30/24. Overall I'm happy with it and would recommend it to anyone that's into toy cameras. Definitely not a serious camera but it's capable of capturing some interesting shots, and good at close-up shots. I paid $49.99 but wouldn't pay much more than that. I wish the manufacturer would provide more detailed specs for the camera geeks among us (focal length, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO). Unfortunately the exif/metadata is stripped from the files and settings don't show on the display. Files can be transferred to a computer using the provided USB-C cable.
